Loretta is a diesel Sprinter van that is an excellent traveling companion. I have been building her out while going on numerous trips for the last year, fine tuning the details to make the camping experience entirely unique.Loretta is equipped with a bed that pulls out and becomes bigger than a queen (65'' x 80''), or can be kept smaller for a single user. When in the smaller bed configuration, the removable cushion turns into a perfect couch. The bed is raised for a vast amount of gear storage underneath. It can fit bikes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and snow gear all at the same time. This under bed gear space is in addition to drawers for clothing. There are two very large countertops excellent for making meals, along with a propane two burner stove and refrigerator. It is equipped with 200AH of power, along with solar power so that you're always able to charge laptops, phones, or accessories. There is both AC and DC power available, as well as numerous outlets throughout the van. There is an indoor shower that doubles as a drying rack for wet gear or jacket storage. Inside the shower sits a small toilet that can be moved for privacy or mountain views. There is also an outdoor shower for bathing under the Milky Way on those starry nights. The water system has a 4 gallon hot water tank attached to a 20 gallon freshwater tank, ensuring that you'll have plenty for your journey. Out of all this though, my favorite part is the incredible Rooftop Deck that loves sunset beers and sunrise coffee. This diesel van is owned and built by an aspiring female carpenter. It is one of a kind experience that will leave you eager for your next journey. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! What's includedIt comes stocked with linens, comforter, cookware, utensils, stemless wine glasses and battery powered candles for a romantic getaway. There is also a parking lot heater (turns on when vehicle is off) and roof fan.Upon request there can also be included:
- 2x camp chairs
- Camp table
- Camp rug (minimizes dirt)
- 1 SUP and 2 life jackets for an additional $20
RecommendationsThe California coast is riddled with excellent places to park with beach views and access points. Bolinas and Santa Cruz are great for surfing. Jenner is a coastal town with a great river to kayak. Ukiah has a hot springs camping resort and Healdsburg/Cazadero/Guerneville has the lazy Russian River and the wonderful Armstrong Redwoods State Park to explore (with ADA trails!).If you want to experience the Sierra Nevadas, Tahoe is an excellent location for summer hiking and winter snow adventures. There are plenty of trails for all levels and abilities. Yosemite is a destination of grandeur that I think everyone should see in their lifetime. The humbling granite cliffs practically touch the sky and the geology is overwhelming. There are also countless lakes and trails to explore in that region. There are even hot springs if you travel to the East Side of the Sierras! For a desert experience head to Joshua Tree National Park. It has incredible life within the sand as well as rock climbing, backpacking, and bike riding potential. In the spring the Anza Borrego desert is the place to go for a desert wildflower super bloom. For small weekend adventures out of the Bay Area I'd recommend Bolinas, Santa Cruz, white water rafting in Coloma, floating the Arroyo Seco river or camping along the Big Sur coast.I have lots of experience as a backcountry guide and tour guide in the area - feel free to ask questions if you want help deciding on a trip! Other things to noteThis is a diesel vehicle and requires diesel fuel. It is also quite large! Comfort driving large vehicles helps the experience. :)Pets encouraged! No festivals and no smoking.

Meet your host, Alicia

Member since 2020

Hello! My name is Alicia and I built out my first campervan with my Dad in 2021-22. I travel a lot teaching wilderness medicine and river rescue classes and use the van for work trips. Prior to this job I ran an outdoor youth program at a non-profit that connected urban teens to wilderness areas, and before that was a backpacking guide. I have enjoyed taking the van to numerous hot springs, mountain biking trips, kayaking trips, and the classic lazy beach getaways. When I'm not exploring with the van or building it, I can be found enjoying music, community, and cuddling with my cat. :)
