You are looking at the most capable 4WD pop-top camper(jeep) in the islands. We took top of the line Jeep Rubicons and added an extended the rear 15", installed a new hardtop with integrated pop-top bed which is accessed from inside the vehicle. If you know Jeeps, you've probably heard of the Rubicon. It is the top of the line Jeep with locking differentials and a swaybar release making it the most capable jeep out there. The AEV350 option adds a 3.5" lift, alloy wheels and 35" tires, more aggressive front bumper with winch and offroad lights. We have taken the stock Rubicon and have done the following:
- Extended the rear 15” for added storage
- Added pop top bed (45” x 76”)
- Added a kitchen table to inside of back door
- Added a 35 quart refrigerator.
- Added a pressurized 10 gallon shower system
- 12V and 120V AC electrical system including:
- 100AH Lithium Iron Phosphate house battery
- 2000W pure sine wave inverter = 120v AC Power
- 2 small 12V fans to keep you cool when you sleep at night
- High power USB outlets
These electrical upgrades will allow you to charge your phones, tablets, computers all night long as well as providing lighting at night. The 2000w inverter provides enough power to power a blender, blow drier, or any appliance you can throw at it and it produces a pure sine wave which will not damage sensitive electronics. We also have everything you might need to go camping.
- Bath towel for each person
- Beach towel for each person
- Beach chair for each person
- Maps and and tour guide book
- Lantern and flashlight
- Pots, pans and miscellaneous cooking utensils
- Bed linens and pillows
- First aid kit
- Fire extinguisher
- Stove and propane
- Camp Table
- Soap
Arriving:
Our location, 4 miles south of the airport at 73-4195 Hukiloa Drive, is a short taxi or rideshare ride away. There both taxis Uber/Lyft are readily available when you arrive. From there, we will go over the campervan with you and teach you how to use it as well as noting any previous damage prior to you taking off. We'll then sign some paperwork and you're off. This process will take around 20 minutes or so.
If you require to pick-up or drop-off the campervan somewhere other than our parking lot, we will charge you $7 per mile from that location. Some things to note since you are renting out a vehicle:
- All drivers must be 25 years of age or older.
- All drivers will need to sign Campervan Hawaii's Standard Vehicle Rental Agreement.
- We will need a copy of driver'(s) licenses for every driver.
- If you come from outside the US, then we will need a copy of all passports for every driver.
- We include pretty much everything you need to campervan in Maui but do offer some extra items you might be interested in renting.
Insurance:***** You are 100% responsible for damage done to the exterior and interior of the vehicle. Because of this, we require this vehicle to be insured by you during the rental. There are two options for this:
1) If your personal vehicle has full coverage insurance (and you are from the US or Canada) then most likely, this rental is covered under your own insurance. In this case, you must provide us with a declaration page from your insurance company showing your coverages and proof that your insurance covers this rental vehicle.
2) If you do not have full coverage, live outside the US and Canada, or just want to purchase insurance so you do not have to use your own personal insurance, then we can provide full coverage insurance on the campervan with a $1500 deductible. There are three insurance packages to choose during the checkout process.
You can pretty much take this campervan anywhere the roads go. The six spots mentioned above are the campsites where you can reserve but there are numerous other spots where you can find a private place to camp and are off the beaten path. We'll tell you more about this after you reserve.

"We started renting campervans out of our love for being on the road and sleeping in a different spot every night and are excited to share our favorite way to travel with other outdoor and van life enthusiasts. We’ve been exploring the mainland by van for over 20 years and love the freedom it provides. After our last extended vacation in our mainland home-on-wheels we realized it would be a great way to explore these island gems of Hawai'i! When home is where you park it, there are more hours to play the day away!"

Exploring Big Island in our Jeep Camper was amazing! The Jeep Rubicon was decked out perfectly and had everything we needed and more. The jeep was in excellent condition and the pop-up bed was comfy. The kitchen set up was awesome with a large 2 burner gas cooker, bigger than I expected fridge, and every utensil you could want (there's even an electric kettle)! The showering system was fab and really handing for washing muddy /sandy feet or for showers after the beach. We loved all the little extras like laundry line, hammock, fans and lanterns. There's plenty of battery power so you can charge your electronics at night. It was perfect for the island as we could access areas such as Mauna Kea Summit and some of the cooler beaches that require 4WD (other cars and rental companies won't allow this). Beth Ann and Matt were both super helpful and organized everything so efficiently. You get excellent recommendations of places to stay and visit. Everything so well organized made it made everything very easy. I highly recommend them.

This was the perfect way to travel the big island. Such a cool experience. And Matt gave us a great recommendation for a laulau spot!

We had an incredible time taking the Jeep around the big island! The two of us fit perfect and the 4x4 of the Jeep was necessary for a number of areas and campsites. We’re both relatively short and fit well in the pop top, but may be snug for anyone on the taller side. It did get a little humid up too when it was heavily raining, but otherwise a perfect way to explore the island.
