1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia "Weekender" we've affectionately named Lucy.Westfalia means it has the classic pop top. Weekender means no stove, fridge or small sink. However, you get far more space and we provide a modern propane camping stove and Yeti cooler. Many upgrades made to this van but still has original 4 cylinder water cooled engine which has <100 HP. So hills can be a bit slow! Fuel lines were replaced in 2022 and other safety upgrades made (including fire suppression system in engine compartment).Paint job is a little rough at the moment. We tried to do a little DIY touch up painting which wasnt a great idea!Van is an automatic and easy to drive, fitting in a normal parking space. Sleeps up to 4 with lower convertible bench seat that becomes a bed, as well as an upper bed once the top is popped. Pets are allowed but please be respectful with dirty/wet animals inside.Van also have lithium auxiliary battery which charges as you drive and enables you to charge devices using either DC power (2 USB ports and two cigarette lighters, one off main starter battery and one off aux battery) or AC power using inverter. What's includedWe will provide the following for each rental:
-2 sets of full size sheets (these fit best)
-2 blankets
-Propane for stove
-45 L Yeti Cooler
-2 camping chairs
-Small USB powered fan
-Portable battery jumper kit just in case anything happens with the battery
-Portable tire compressor
Other things to noteWe ask that you be smart about pushing this van too much on hills and at speeds above 65mph for very long. It is best for regional trips of 1-3 hours and driving on the highway for too long just isnt that fun! Lots of road noise and hard to get the speed up past 65 mph.No offroading please! It's an "older" vehicle so please just take care of her ;)

Have a question?Get answers directly from the host

Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
The van will be located in Falmouth, ME, which is about 5 min drive from Portland. Located just down the road from Walmart, a grocery store, and numerous gas stations for an easy jumping off point. We will arrange for keys to be left with van or easily accessible. This will be the same drop off point.

Q.How do the electric, water and sewage hook up work while setting up at the campground?
A.
This van does not have hookups for these items. You will need to bring your own water and rely on the auxiliary battery supply for any electricity needs.
