Frida is recently converted in our fleet. 1993 Vw Kombi from Brazil, she is a manual transmission with a pop top and beautiful interior. Smooth cruiser. Sleeps 4 people but more comfortably 2 or 3.Please be aware the front seats in Frida are slightly higher than regular seats, so if you are a tall driver (over 6ft 1in) you might be in for a tight fit on these seats.also, for a list of what is included with the rental we have:- Bed sheets

Hello Rowan good afternoon how are you?We initially received your email and (unlike our meeting in person) the feedback has been extremely different from one another. We were giving sometime to answer, in order to test the van, and give a real “in depth” analysis of the situation to come up with results and explanation for you, which is well deserved as a client. However you also went ahead and placed a public 0 starts review, so we unfortunately have the urge to provide some answers and point out a few details about your rentals.We would like to start with the fact that we DO INDEED rent OLD vehicles. Apart of being used, these rare vehicles are over 40 years old and kept in good shape for what they are.
Frida being from the 90’s does not mean this vehicle is not a 70’s model. She is still a 1970 model, which means: No power steering, no electric windows, and many of the safety features being very primitive compared to a modern vehicle. Because of those misunderstandings and misinterpretation happen, we created a rental guide and “terms and conditions” page SPECIFICALLY addressing some of this points. On that page, we (as all normal people) are not trying to fool anybody, and we disagree with companies that make catches on those pages, making huge and impossible to read texts just to get protected from possible problems. So we went ahead and made a ONE PAGE text, as resumed as possible and with as much information as possible on our rentals. That same page, we ask you TWICE if you read and agree with it during our rental process, we first ask if you read it, and following we ask if you “ARE SURE” that you read it, just to emphasize the importance of both, which you answered YES for both questions.Here are a couple copies of that text, in case you missed it: "As stated before, our vehicles are unique, therefore they need special attention. We do our best to provide all guests a fully and great working vehicle, and we WILL NOT rent a vehicle in poor conditions. However, unexpected situations may occur.
In case of a breakdown, or anything that compromises the operation of the vehicle, we will do our best to resolve the issue as soon as we can, if we can not solve it in a 8 Hour window, the following will apply:
* Substitution for similar or another vehicle…"
In addition to that, we also send email reminders with information on your reservation, more specifically, on October 10th 2022 (17 days prior your check-in) you OPENED one of our emails which subject states “Where to stay? Suggestions!” which contains a list of campgrounds and places to stay overnight. So unfortunately if you didn’t make the reservations on campgrounds that were “full” at the time of your arrival, we can’t take blame on that.Not to let this slip, but is worth mentioning, that having a loose side mirror, and a “twisted” seat belt can be fixed within about 20 minutes at the most. 95% of our issues are fixed before a car goes out in a rental, however sometimes miss-operation of the vehicles causes a problem to show up, and if that was possibly your case, you could have called us and we would have gone anywhere on island to help you solve it, or worst case scenario, replace you with a different van as stated on our terms and conditions. It is also worth mentioning that we were not aware of ANY of these problems until you came back with the van early and told us which is also surprising because upon the return of the van, unfortunately, your only feedback in person was: 1 - driver seat belt twisted, 2 - passenger mirror loose when at high speeds, and 3 - loose steering wheel (which when pointed if there was more than 1/4 turn play on the steering you mentioned that was definitely less than that). So we wish there was more honesty on the “in person feedback” for better discussion and understanding rather than a text which can be interpreted in many different ways.
