Meet your host, CJ

Member since 2018

Hi. We are CJ and Jessi. We have 2 boys and moved to Utah about 6 years ago from Louisiana. We like to travel to the national parks to get away for the weekend. We love going in the camper with the dogs and want others to be able to enjoy it also.

For the price I had higher expectations. First the trailer wasn’t ready when we got there. The gas water heater wouldn’t turn on. A couch/bed was missing screws. We got a flat and fortunately had my brother in law with all his tools since there wasn’t a working lug wrench and the “tool” to lift the tire off the ground didn’t lift it high enough. The owner told us they were planning on replacing the tires. Probably not wise/safe to rent out a trailer that needs maintenance.
He was good at communicating and working with me on a time that worked for pick up and drop off.

CJ’s answer

Hi Theron, The trailer was ready when you got there with the exception of the Andersen adaptor being on the king pin which i left on in case you decided to use my hitch instead of yours. It did take me about 10 min to remove the adaptor from the king pin. We also had to repair the hitch you brought which also took about 10 minutes to get working. So both of those things combined added about 20 min to the pickup time. I tested the gas operation of the water heater when you returned and it was working fine at the house after you returned it so im not sure what the issue was with that. There is always a chance of screws working themselves loose when the trailer is bouncing around going down the road and on the dirt roads when taken into the mountains. If I remember you were going to the Uinta mountains so screws may fall out when it is bouncing around the mountain roads. Unfortunately you did experience a tire blowout during your trip. The tools provided is what is provided by the manufacturer and there is a socket set in the camper with the correct size socket for the lug nut. After discussion with you and your recommendation i did add a tire wrench to the trailer. As far as replacing the tires i did plan to replace then this winter. Outdoorsy requires tires to be replaced every 5 years or if less than 50% tread wear is remaining. These tires were manufactured on the 37th week of 2017 which put them at about 4 years and 10 months old. The tread depth when I measured it just prior to your rental was 6/32” which is over the required 50% tread life. During the walkaround you expressed no concern about the tire condition when we looked at them. The likely culprit to the blowout was road debris damaged the tire and caused it to blowout, not the condition of the tires.

The owners were easy to work with for pick up and return and the trailer was perfect for a long weekend with the RZR (4-seater).

Booking this trailer was so smooth and simple. CJ was great at communicating and accommodating our trip! When we picked up the trailer, everything was clean and ready to go. The trailer was stocked with what we needed. CJ did a great job giving us instructions for utilizing the trailer’s features. The trailer had climate control which was really comfortable when the nights were chilly. This trailer was the perfect contribution to our fun family trip! I highly recommend!
