Second time renting The Borg for our annual camping trip in Big Sur. It’s perfect for those who aren’t looking for a fully-equipped camper van, but an elevated camping experience in colder temps. The van rides great and is comfortable for 2 adults + 1 dog. Recommend bringing a sleeping pad and extra blankets/sleeping bags for colder temps.

Simple, straightforward, reasonable cost, excellent equipment. Overall a fantastic experience. We are completely assimilated. We will be doing this again.

Overall it was an ok experience for our first rental through outdoorsy and with this owner, Sarah. I'll start with the pros:
Sarah was very quick in responding to our requests and questions. The pick up process was very easy and smooth. The van itself was good. It drove well and everything was in working order. The pull out compartment with biodegradable plates, bowls, utensils, etc was very handy, as was the few pieces of cookware included. The van had plenty of room for transporting all our totes and gear. The length and width of the bed was very nice for 2 adults and there was plenty of room.
The cons:
Even though the pick up process was smooth and easy, I wish that I could have met face to face with the owner of the vehicle (Sarah) at pick up. It would have been nice to do a walkaround and inspection together before our trip. Only because I would have known about the side door closing issue, the discomfort of the bed, and the limited floor space with the 2nd row of seats still installed. On the drive down to our trip, I noticed that a door was "ajar" by the light on the dash. We couldn't find the door, but eventually did. The side/sliding door needs a little extra help to close completely. You couldn't close it completely from inside, which was a bummer when loading up for the night, because you had to come in through one of the front door and clamber over the front seats and 2nd row of seats to get to the bed. Obviously this was a hassle when getting up to use the restroom in the middle of the night as well. The very back interior light would not go off unless this side door was completely closed which is right above where your head is when laying in the bed. lol. Speaking of the bed... very uncomfortable. My husband and I slept horribly both nights. In the description it described it as comfy with a nice comforter/blanket. We could feel the plywood bottom through the thin mattress and I had to use an extra blanket to cover me, since the included duvet/comforter wasn't wide enough to cover 2 people. If we had known this ahead of time, I would have made sure to bring extra foam/cushions and large blankets to make it better. The last issue was there were no pictures to show the limited floor space with the 2nd row of seats in. We have an 11 year old son who also traveled with us and our mini Aussie and they were both very squished and uncomfortable. There was an extra cost add on to remove the 2nd row of seats, which is fine, but I wish we had seen pictures to understand the difference in floor space with the seats in. There were only pictures of the seats removed. If I could have met and talked with Sarah at pick up, I would have paid the extra to remove them before leaving for our trip.
Overall we loved the experience and had a great time. The cons I listed just made it a little less pleasant. If I had known these things beforehand, I could have better prepared for our trip. Thank you Sarah for letting us rent your vehicle. It's definitely better than tent camping by far!! :)

Terrific communication, super easy to work with. The van was a perfect home base for my women’s motorcycle weekend.
